Hong Kong!

I’ve spent the last bit of my travels in Hong Kong. After a looooong flight from Darwin to Sidney to Hong Kong, I finally arrived in Hong Kong on fridaynight. With the directions I had gotten from the website of the hostel I grabbed a bus from the airport and drove into the center. It was quite a change from laid-back Darwin into hectic and busy Hong Kong. The first thing I noticed was the incredible humidity in the whole city.. And extremely warm… I checked in into the hostel and thankfully the hostel was nice, cool and clean. That night I went to sleep not long there after as I was very very tired.
The next day I met a dutch guy in my dorm who happened to be from Amstelveen as well, really random. I asked him whether he knew some nice places to have breakfast, so I joined him and two of his friends to a place next to the hostel. We had some sandwiches which were pretty good. Later on he was moving to another hotel and I decided to join him as we were planning to go out that night. That way I knew where to find him. After visiting his hotel we went out for some lunch. After lunch we went to see the biggest shopping center of Hong Kong. It was quite nice to see. I went for a shower and then went back to their hotel for some dinner. After dinner we decided to go clubbing in a part of Hong Kong where a lot of tourists go. It was amazing to see that about 80 – 90% of the people were actually european. It became a crazy night with again too many beers and I got back early in the morning.
The next day I slept most of the morning and afternoon. I met up with a guy from Iceland in my dorm. We went out to the Victoria peak, the highest lookout point in hong Kong. From there you have a really nice view over the whole city. Afterwards we went to see the famous light show, unfortunately we missed it because my watch was half an hour behind. We went back to the hostel and had a fairly early night.
The next day I met up with Melanie, a local here from Hong kong who Sidney, one of my friends met a long time ago. We met up in the morning and wemt to an authentic chinese restaurant for some lunch, After lunch I went to the big buddha on one of the islands next to Hong Kong Island. It took about 90 minutes to get there by bus and subway, but it was quite nice to see and the view was really nice. Later that night I went to see the lightshow again and I met up with Melanie and her boyfriend to have dinner. We had some really nice food there and they offered to pay for my food. Really really kind. Tonight I’m going to hit the sack fairly early as I have to be at the airport at around 5:00. Then my trip is really nearing its end… Tomorrow night I’ll be back in good ol’ Amsterdam..
