Off to New Zealand..

Well.. What can I say.. Another few days have passed since the last time I wrote something in my blog. The couple of days after the weekend were not really good weather-wise. Cloudy and even some rain from time to time. I decided to hit the gym, which was really really good. It was good to work out a bit again and burn off some of those beers I’ve been drinking lately. The other day I went with some of the english lads for a walk around Sydney and on the monorail. That night (tuesday) we went to the cinema which was fun as well. The movie (Smoking Aces) was quite complicated, but it was fun to finally do something different than drinking beers in the SideBar. Yesterday I went to Manly beach which was really nice as well. We went on the ferry which was fun as well. The weather was good, although we were not able to swim in the sea, as the current was way too dangerous. It was fun anyhow and the waves were insanely big, which was cool to see.

Today I went to the blue mountains with an excursion agency. I had to get up quite early which wasn’t all that nice, especially cause I went to the valentine party the evening before. Either way, I had a blast today. The guide was a really funny guy and told us lots about Australia in general and the sights we were looking at. We first went to a spot on the foot of the mountain where kangaroos tend to come and eat their favorite food; freshly mowed grass. Once we got there, there were whole families of kangaroos eating and they didn’t even care about us standing next to them. The guide warned us not to touch them or scare them, but I could get as close as 2 meters away from them. I made some really cool foto’s of them which I will upload later on. Then we went for another drive to the top of the mountain. There we did a 2 hour walk through the mountains straight through the bushes. It was really adventures. Fortunately the weather was perfect; sunny and warm. It had been raining the past days, so we were even able to see a lot of waterfalls, which are pretty rare in the Blue mountains. I shot a lot more pictures and we had a fun time. Then we had a lunch. The tourguide told us he was about to reherse playing the “didgeredoo” tonight, and he asked whether we liked to learn playing it during the lunch. It was a really fun experience the play this thing, and I found out it’s really hard to play on those things. The hardest part is the breathing, as you need to have a circular breathing. Breathing in and out at the same time basicly. Then after the lunch we went for another drive up the mountain and did some more walking. After the another hour of walking we went into the steepest train in the world, which used to be a mine-workers train. The steepest point of the train goes 52 degrees up, which is basicly vertically. It was really cool to do that as well. Then we rode back to the hostel which took about 90 minutes. I slept a bit on the way home.

Although I feel tired, I really want to do something fun tonight, as it’s the last night I am here for now. I am not looking forward to tomorrow, as I’ll need to get up early once again.

That’s it for now folks..
I’ll keep you all updated – soon from New Zealand 🙂

Robin
