Florianopolis!

Catching my bus to Florianopolis was quite stressful last wednesday. After spending a full day at the apartment of my brasilian friends, except for going to the gym for 2 hours, I really decided to get out of there. Once they arrived back home around 7PM I told them straight away I was not planning to stay any more days. As I am traveling I want to keep moving. They understood and brought me to the subwaystation. It was quite a hassle as we tried to get there during rush hour. Once arrived I caught a metro to the busstation. I got there 45 minutes before departure. I bought a ticket and got on to the bus. The busride took about 10 hours and we arrived in the early morning.

Once arrived I grabbed the directions of a hostel I had looked up before and grabbed a local bus. About an hour later I arrived at the hostel. Thankfully they had some beds available so that was good. The hostel was recommended by a guy I met in Rio and I have to say, the hostel has a really nice vibe to it. Free surfboard hire, free breakfast with fresh juice and pancakes, really good. So after arriving I grabbed a board and went surfing. The board happened to be a hardboard, which is quite hard to get up on if you happen to be an amateur like me. Eventhough it was good fun to surf again. That night I was really tired and went to bed early.

The next day it was pissing down like crazy. It rained all day which was quite sad. We played some poker and had a few drinks. Later that night we went to a club with some guys I met in the hostel. The club turned out to be really expensive and we ended up spending quite a bit of money. It was a fun night anyway though.

The next day happened to be nice and sunny again. I went to the beach and had some food. Afterwards I went to see a surfing competition at a beach next to our beach. It was quite fun to watch it, but they weren´t as good as you might see from time to time on tv. Later that night we went out to a club recommended by the hostel. The club was a lot cheaper and turned out to be just as fun. We spent all night there and I arrived back at the hostel in the early morning.

The next day we decided to go and rent a scooter. Scooters are quite cheap to rent and they are a great way to discover the island. Me and a guy from Australia both rented one and we went to drive around the island. It was heaps of fun. Nearing the end of the day we drove back to the hostel. I decided not to go out that night, as I wanted to get up early the next day to check out the rest of the island on my scooter.

The next day I woke up quite early. I had breakfast and got onto my scooter. We drove to the southern side of the island which happened to be really really beautiful. I took quite a few photos and we had lots of fun. At the end of the afternoon we returned the scooters and went back to the hostel. We had some food and a few beers afterwards. I was too tired to do anything else, plus I am spending way too much money around here so I decided to go to bed and have a good night of sleep.

The next morning I woke up quite early again. It happened to be a beautiful sunny day again. I reckon I will just go and chill on the beacj for a while and have an easy day. Tomorrow I am planning to do a boattrip around the island which should be good fun too.
