Punta del Este

Soooo, it has been a while since I have last updated my blog, due to the lack of news to be honest.

The past week has been very chilled. As Florianopolis happens to be a very peaceful place and the hostel I was staying at had such a good atmosphere, I decided to stay there a little bit longer. I took a boatride to a desserted island, about an hour off the coast from Barra da Lagao, the town I was staying at. It was quite a nice trip. We had typical brasilian music on the boat and they were serving us fresh fruit and water along the way. Once we arrived on the island, which happened to be really beautiful, we chilled out on the beach and enjoyed the views. Later on we had lunch at one of the two restaurants on the island where we had some freshly caught fish. It turned out to be a nice day.

A few days later the hostel owner, Junior – a 21 year old guy, organised a walk to the next beach. He told us it was going to be an hours walk and to bring our cameras as we would have some nice views. The part he didnt really make clear was the fact it was going to be quite a hike through the hills and all of us, including him, were just wearing flipflops. Obviously we were not amused once we were half way climbing these hills. Once we got to the top of the hills he told us he wasnt sure we were still going the right way. He told us he was looking for a bush and a few rocks next to it. Obviously we were taking the piss out of him as there were rocks and bushes everywhere. Eventually one of the guys decided to just keep on walking the main path and see where we would end up. Ten minutes later we actually found the bush and the rock Junior was talking about and we found our way to the beach. The whole walk took about 2 hours, so once we arrived we had lunch and a few drinks. Later on I headed back to the hostel.

The rest of the days I have just been chilling at the beach and watching movies in the hostel, nothing special there. Then on monday I decided it was time to make a move, as I could easily spend another 10 days here, and it wouldnt be the first time someone would get stuck in this place. I bought me busticket down to Uruguay. I figured I had to go and start moving more quickly, cause everyday the weather down south of Argentina would become worse and worse. So tuesday I hopped on the bus and drove off to Porto Alegre, there I had to wait for 2,5 hours to hop onto the bus to Punta del Este. After another 10 hours of bussing (sleeping) I arrived in the early morning in Punta del Este. My hostel happened to be only 2 blocks away from the bus terminal so I could quickly get to my new home.

I am planning to stay here for only a few days, as I should definitely get myself to Buenos Aires and keep this trip on the road. More news soon!!
