After leaving Queenstown a few days ago, I’ve been traveling quite a bit. I traveled from Queenstown back to Christchurch. As I had already been in Christchurch I decided to move right on to the next town Kaikoura. There I met some english folks with who I shared a room with. Kaikoura means in the maori language “to eat crayfish” so we thought it would be appropriate to eat some crayfish there. As this fish is really expensive to buy – some restaurants charge upto 70 bucks for one of those – we decided to get one for the two of us at a take-away place. We ate some with some fries which was really nice. The next day the trip went on to Wellington. We drove to picton where we caught the ferry to Wellington. It took about 3 hours by the ferry to get to the northern Island. Unfortunately the bus which had to take us from the ferry to the city didn’t work, so we had to wait for about 90 minutes until we were picked up by another bus. Later that night we decided to have a party-night. We bought us some drinks and played some drinking games in the hostelroom. Later we went out to some bars in Wellington. Today I went to have a walk through Wellington and was amazed how small it really is. It’s amazing, considering it’s a capital city, that on a saturday afternoon there are just a handful of people on the streets and there are not that many cars to be seen either. It does have a lot of shops and a lot of bars, so it’s a nice city to walk through. I went onto a cable car which went onto the mountain and up on the mountain I had a very nice view over the whole city. I’ll throw up some pictures later. Tonight I went to the cinema to watch the new Hannibal flick which was pretty scary.
