My 22nd Birthday!

Yes everyone!! The day has come.. I am officially 22 now!! I went to Airlie Beach to celebrate my birthday together with the couple of people I have been traveling with the last couple of weeks. After a 14 hour bus ride from Rainbow Beach and a 2 hour delay in Hervey Bay, I arrived at 11 in the morning in Airlie Beach on my birthday. The guys were singing for me in the hostel room and they bought me a really nice t-shirt as a present. Afterwards I had a little nap as I was still tired from the long bus journey. Around 6 we went to the bar in our hostel for a couple of beers. Josh, whose birthday’s 1 day after mine, walked up to the guy playing the guitar in the bar and requested a song for my birthday. He asked me to come up to the stage and he played happy birthday for me on the guitar. Aftwards we went to have some food at Nando’s, a portuguese chicken restaurant. We had some great food, then when we were all finished eating the guys brought out a chocolate cake with two candles on there saying “22”. I was truly surprised and I couldn’t believe they went through all the trouble to buy all this stuff for my birthday. After the cake we went on to a bar for some more drinks. There the guys bought me a so-called “dirty pint”. It contained Lager Beer, Cider Beer, a shot of Sambuca, a shot of black sambuca, a shot of jagermeister, a shot of malibu AND a shot of gin. It didn’t taste too bad, especially it happened to be like a $30 pint. I drank it all and as much of alcohol as it seems to be, I didn’t get sick or anything. I drank some beers and we went on to the next club. It happened to be a brand new club which had been opened only 2 days before. They were playing some great tunes. We were dancing and at 12 o’clock it was Josh’s birthday as well. I bought him a drink and we were both partying. Alex went to the dj and told him it was our birthday. The dj congratulated us through the microphone. Later on we went to another nightclub and it became an awesome night!

Thanks to everyone back at home for the text-messages and phone calls. It became a really great birthday, eventhough I’m really far from home. I’ll surely throw a little birthday party once I am back home!
