The next morning we got up early, packed our bags and made our way to Raggemuffin. We threw our backpacks on the boat and had some breakfast. We left the island around 8am. We then set sail on a big catamaran to an island called Rendezvous Caye. We stopped a few times on the way to do some snorkelng. The captain, called Ish, went spearfishing and was able to catch a lobster and a barracuda.
The spearfishing brought a whole new dimension to the snorkeling. Instead of looking at the fish, we now looked at and shot it through its back or head. We could watch it all from really up close which was quite an experience.
We arrived to the island around four in the afternoon. The island turned out to be really small and only had a small dock and a few toilets on it. We setup the tents and then had to shelter for some rain to pass by. After the rain we all started to drink the rum that was included in the tour. The crew meanwhile cooked up an amazing dinner that was too much to eat.
After dinner some people went straight to bed. We had a few more drinks but signed off fairly early too, as we were all tired after a day of sailing and snorkeling. The morning after we had to get up early, as we had to leave the island before the masses of tourists would come from a nearby cruise ship. We packed up the tents and had breakfast on the boat.
After breakfast we set sail for the next island called Tobacco Caye We again did a few stops of snorkeling. Lunch consisted of sandwiches with different kinds of meat, cheese and salad. We arrived to the next island in the afternoon. We got off the boat, setup the tents and had a look around the island.
The crew meanwhile coooked us an amazing dinner which consisted of a full lobster, barracuda and dog snapper. All of the fish we caught over the last two days. They even baked a cake on the boat for two people who had their birthday. That night some locals made local music with self made drums and the shell of a turtles. Everyone was still tired so we went to sleep early.
The next morning we woke up with some rain. We had some shelter at the bar on the island. Meanwhile the crew cooked us breakfast on the boat and brought it out to us. After breakfast the weather clearred up and we set sail to the final destination: Placencia. We did some more snorkeling along the way and finally made it to Placencia in the late afternoon. Once we set bye to the crew we headed into town to find us a place to sleep. We had success at Omar’s place, a cheap guest house which we found in the Lonely Planet.
