Back in BA!

Friday night after having the BBQ I mentioned in my last newspost, I met up with a few guys in my room. Two guys from England, a guy from Wales and a guy from the States. We all went together to a bar in the historical center of Montevideo. It ended up to be a really great night. I found the people from Uruguay to be extremely friendly and well educated, almost the contrary you would find on the other side of the border in Buenos Aires where people are far not that well-mannered to be honest.

The next morning was quite tough. I had to get up early as I had to check out of my hostel and catch my bus which was going to bring me to the ferry terminal. I met a german women in my hostel who was catching the same ferry I was going to catch, so we ended up going there together. The bus took about 2 hours to drive to a small seaport town called Colonia. Once we got there we had to clear customs. The ferry took another 2 hours to cross the water. So I finally arrived in Buenos Aires in the early evening last saturday. I grabbed a taxi, who really scammed me, having to pay 35 pesos for a 10 minute taxi ride which would normally cost about 10.. After a discussion with the taxi driver I had no other choice than to pay the money he was asking.. Once I got to my hostel I had a little bit of sleep. I needed the energy as I had planned to meet up with a few travelbuddies I met in Florianopolis.. We were all planning to go to Pacha, a really cool, expensive club somewhere near the port of Buenos Aires. I managed to get to the hostel we were supposed to meet in time and it was great to see all of the people I had met a few weeks before again together in the same place. We all went to the discoteque and it became another awesome night, dancing outside until sunrise.

The next day I slept throughout most of the day.. As I didnt catch much sleep for at least two days.. It ended up to be a true sunday, doing nothing else than sleeping and resting. At nighttime I decided to join a few english people for some food in Palermo. We had some food and a few drinks, but soon I noticed I was not up for another big night and went back to the hostel to sleep.

The next day I was feeling a lot more energetic. I woke up early and signed up in the hostel for another bike tour. As I had done one a few weeks ago, I felt like doing another one. It was perfect as this time we were going to do the north side of the city instead of the southern side I had done previously, plus I was in need of some excersize. The bike tour ended up to be quite nice, although not as good as the southern side, which is a lot more touristic than the northern side. Once I got back I had a shower and went to meet up with two of my travelingbuddies in another hostel. As it happened to be St. Patrick´s day, there happened to be a big party in the Irish district of Buenos Aires where all the Irish pubs are located. We obviously decided to go there. Meanwhile we met two girls from Equador who decided to join us as well. Once we got to the area, I couldn´t believe my eyes.. The streets were filled with gringo´s which was really funny to see. We ended up in a typical irish pub where they were playing authentic old irish songs. One of the guys I was with was actually from Ireland, so he felt right at home. He decided to buy us all genuine Irish pints with Guiness beer. It ended up to be another crazy night with lots of fun. Too bad the next morning I had booked myself into another hostel, so not a lot of sleeping for me there..

The next morning, after 4 hours of sleep, I checked out of my hostel and made my way to the center of the city. The hostel I had booked myself into happens to be right next to the famous obelisk, which is a very nice and central location in the city. Needless to say I was feeling quite rough after so little sleep and too many drinks. After checking in to my new hostel I decided to have myself a little siesta. After sleeping through most of the afternoon I decided to go out and see whoever was around in the party-hostel most of my friends were staying at.. I met up with a few of them. By the end of the night a girl came up to me and asked me whether I was able to help her friend go upstairs as he wasn´t able to walk anymore. I found that quite ridicilous, as obviously I thought the guy would be really drunk. It turned out to be my travelbuddy from Florianopolis with whom I had been renting the scooters with. He wasn´t able to walk anymore as he fractured both of his anckles trying to jump over a fence the night before.. I had to carry him all the way upstairs to his room, which must have been a really funny sight. After bringing the guy to bed I decided to go back to my own hostel too, as it turned out to be quite late again already.

The next day I woke up quite early. A guy from Chile who has been staying in my hostelroom asked me what I was going to do today. I told him I was planning on visiting La Boca. He asked me whether I liked him to join me, which I obviously found fine. We took a bus together to La boca and got off at the last stop. There we had a wander through the touristic streets of La boca. Afterwards we went to visit the stadium of La boca and had a little peek inside. Across the stadium we decided to have some lunch. After lunch the guy asked me whether I had been to the zoo of Buenos Aires yet. I told him I had never been, so we decided to go there afterwards. After an hours busride, going to the whole other side of the city we finally arrived at the zoo. It was quite fun, but nearing the end of the afternoon we were both feeling really tired. We decided to head back to the hostel to have some rest. Which is exactly what I am going to have as soon as I am done writing this update.

Tonight I will be meeting up with a guy from Buenos Aires I met last month in Iguazu. He is going to celebrate his birthday tonight, which should be nice too. Tomorrow I have got multiple options of things I can do. I have gotten an invitation from two other friends I met in Iguazu to join them for dinner, but just now the cousin of my ex told me her family was expecting me to come and have dinner at their place. As you can tell, I have got a very busy life, even when I am far away from home…

More news soon.. I am also looking into booking my flight down to Ushuaia as I do really want to keep on moving. Before I will need to buy me some hiking boots and a fleeze jacket, as otherwise I will freeze my ass off down there.. That´s all for now!
