More BA adventures..

Last wednesday I met up with the guy I met before in Iguazu. He invited me to come over to a bar somewhere in Palermo where we had a few drinks. He invited a few colleagues from work too. As it happened to be holiday this week because of easter, most of his friends were actually gone for a few days to other places outside of the city, so most of the bars and clubs were not as packed as they usually are. Later we decided to go to a club nearby. It turned out to be a nice night out.

The next day I met up with the 2 girls from Ecuador who I had met on St. Patricks day. We walked around the city and they were doing some shopping. Afterwards we had some food together which was nice too. At the end of the afternoon I headed back to the hostel. There I had a shower since at 19:00 the cousin of my ex was coming to pick me up as I was going to have dinner at their place. They drove me to their house, where I had been 2 years ago too. It was fun to see them again, as last time I had seen them was 2 months ago at the start of my trip in Mar del plata. It was good I was finally able to talk to them, as my spanish has improved quite a bit since I have been here. After dinner we watched a bit of television and we talked some more.. Then around 1 AM I decided to head off back to the city center.

Friday I decided to go the gym for a change. You can imagine with eating all those steaks and drinking all those beers all the time, you really need a bit of excersize from time to time too. I asked the hostel whether they knew of any gyms in the neighbourhood. I changed clothes and went to the gym. Once I got there I found out the gym turned out to be closed due to holy friday.. That was a real bummer. I ended up just walking around the city for a while, as most of the shops turned out to be closed too. That night I met up with another guy from Buenos Aires whom I had met about a month ago in Iguazu. He asked me to come to a suburb near the city center where he happens to live. I caught a train to the suburb where he picked me up. From there we went to a restaurant nearby. Unfortunately it was raining quite a bit, so I didnt get to see much of the center which was supposed to be really nice. After dinner we went to meet a friend of his who I met in Iguazu as well. From there we went to a club in the city center of Buenos Aires. He told me it was one of the best clubs in town.. The only thing he didn`t mention is that it turned out to be a gay club. Once we got in I found myself in some sort of freakshow. Transvestites and loads of gay men.. I must say it´s definitely not my kind of place, but it was good to see it sometime. The only positive thing was probably the fact they were doing free drinks all night, so I was actually able to save quite a bit of money. Around 4 AM I decided to go back to my hostel as I clearly had enough of all these freaky people.

The next day I met up with the chilean guy in my room. He asked me whether I liked to join him for lunch. We went to Palermo, where they have a nice saturdays market. We had lunch on a sunny terrasse in the heart of Palermo. After lunch we strawled around the market for a while, as the chilean guy wanted to buy some tshirts. At the end of the afternoon we went back to the hostel. There I had a few hours of sleep as I was really really tired. That night I met up with the two guys from Iguazu again. As it was a saturday night, we were planning to go out. I did make very clear it wasn`t going to be a gayclub again. Once we got to club, there turned out to be an endless queue of people. Just insane.. We decided to get into the queue anyway, as it was supposed to be a really good club. After almost 2 hours of waiting I told them this was just ridiclous. I am a patient guy, but this was just silly. We decided to go to some bar nearby and have a few drinks there instead. At 4 AM the bar closed and I went back to my hostel.

The next day I had signed up to go to see soccermatch in the Boca Stadium. The boca juniors were playing Colon, a very weak team. I payed quite a bit of money to get onto this tour with the hostel , as at some matches it can become quite dangerous. This match was a real calm one though. In the first 8 minutes the Boca jrs already scored their first goal. There was not a lot of excitement in the match but it was a good experience to be among all of the crazy boca jrs supporters. In the stadium I also met up with the two dutch guys I had met up in Florianopolis. I asked them whether they liked to some food later on together. At 21:00 I stepped by their hostel and met up with them. From there we went for some steak at really good restaurant in San telmo. Another dutch guy from Amsterdam joined us as well. So for a change we could all just speak dutch. After dinner we headed back to their hostel where we met up with a few other guys I knew back from Brasil as well. They asked us to come with them to a bar in Palermo with live music. We decided to join them. The bar was pretty good and again we had quite a few drinks.. It turned out to be a nice night.

The next two days I will just have to do a lot of preparations as next wednesday I am having a flight down to Ushuaia, the most southern part of the world, the mainland that is… tomorrow I am going to buy me some boots and perhaps a warm sweater. I am flying in the early morning wednesday, so I have only got tomorrow left to do those things..

More news soon from Ushuaia!
