After arriving in Mar del Plata, I obviously couldn´t do much else than go to the beach with the temperatures I am being confronted with. I asked the niece of my ex, Antonella, to join me to the beach. She went there with her whole family. I met up with them at a beach called Playa Grande, which i already knew as I had been there 2 years before as well. Eventhough I had used quite a bit of suncream, I still managed to get sunburned. The sun is much stronger than it is in Europe. On the beach I also met another uncle of my ex, who happens to sell coffee on the beach. He invited me to come over and eat at their place that night.
That night I went to their house, together with the other uncle and his family. It became a really fun night. Fernando, the uncle who invited me, wanted to give me a general idea about the traditional Argentine music. He put on a poncho and a hat and started to sing along with a cd. His wife was a bit embarrassed but obviously I was enjoying the show like no other.
The next day I went shopping. I was in need of some new swimming shorts. I asked Antonella to join me who also brought her mum. Together we went shopping around. Eventhough at some point they got a bit annoyed by my very selective taste, I managed to find the shorts I liked. Later that night I went back home and had some food. Because of all the walking I was too tired to do much else..
The next day I was introduced to three girls who happened to live next to the house where I am staying. They turned out to be really sympathic. As I couldn´t understand much of what they were saying, they decided to give me a lesson in spanish. As the only language they really speak, happened to be spanish I was kind of obliged to talk spanish too. The more we were talking the more I started to understand. That night we went out to a bar. The bar was crowded like crazy, full of people. But it became a fun night meeting lots of people. Getting back at 8 in the morning..
The next day I woke up late in the afternoon.. It happened to be the birthdaty of gaia, the 6 year old niece of my ex. It turned out to be quite a big party with loads of people joining the party. With the littel bits of spanish I was now able to speak, I was able to have some nice conversations with the friends and family. That night I went to have some dinner in the city center of Mar del plata with my 3 new neighbour friends. Afterwards we went to visit Cristian, the brother of my ex who is working in a hotel at night.
Other than that I haven´t done much else other than relaxing, walking aruond the citycenter and learning more spanish which will help me during the rest of my travels. Unfortunately I am not able to make it in time for Carnaval to Brasil, but I do have decided to go to Brasil in a week or two..
